Short answer
"4106" is not a Cartier reference number. Cartier Clé de Cartier references use letters and digits, such as the WSCL series. The number 4106 comes from the replica trade. Sellers use it as a batch or factory code for one build of a fake Clé de Cartier. The same four digits can describe watches with different case sizes, movements and finishes, so the code alone tells you little.
What the genuine Clé de Cartier is
Cartier launched the Clé de Cartier in 2015. The name refers to the crown, which is shaped like a key. Three case sizes exist.
- 31 mm: quartz movement in most versions.
- 35 mm: automatic, and quartz in some markets.
- 40 mm: automatic only.
The automatic versions use Calibre 1847 MC, a Cartier in-house movement. Published figures: 23 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, about 42 hours of power reserve. The crystal is sapphire. Water resistance on steel models is rated at 30 m. Cases come in steel, 18k pink gold and 18k white gold.
What the code 4106 covers in replica listings
Replica factories change batch codes between runs. A 4106 listing can hold a 35 mm or a 40 mm case. The movement can be a quartz unit, a Miyota 9015 with a decorated rotor, or a clone of the 1847 MC. Case thickness and crown shape vary between batches. Ask the seller for a measured case diameter and the movement name before you pay.
Checks that separate the tiers
- Case diameter, measured with calipers, not quoted from a listing.
- Crown: key shape, its recess into the case flank, and how it turns.
- Crystal: sapphire or mineral glass. Mineral glass scratches.
- Date window: position and font. Many fakes use a wider window.
- Caseback text: depth of engraving and the reference line.
- Bracelet and strap screws: slot width and head finish.
- Weight: plated steel feels lighter than 18k gold. Gold replicas are steel with plating.

Limits
